Evergreen Dazed were formed in Leicester, England, in 1991, when Elizabeth Bruce, a US student on a year long exchange, answered a 'vocalist wanted' advert by Mark Turrell.
 
They found an instant chemistry between his dreamy pop tunes and her smoky, jazz-tinged vocals, which can be heard on their first album, 'Cloudbeams In Your Eye' (CBBMLP3).

This was recorded at home and released in Nov 1992. It features acoustic pop in the style of The Sundays or Mazzy Star, electronic ambient pieces, and echo-laden space rock.

They played a couple of gigs in San Francisco, supporting an embryonic Richard Buckner, and bay area folk rocker Sonya Hunter. They also secured a feature article in UK psych magazine Ptolemaic Terrascope, and an entry in Chris William's book of underground bands 'Adrift In The Ether'.

The book drew the attention of Spanish indie-pop label Elefant, who wanted to release some of their music. This resulted in a 7" 3 track EP 'Ocean Beach', released in 1994, and appearances on a couple of label compilations, as well as a Felt tribute CD.
 
The band then spent 5 years writing and recording what would be their second album 'Broken Road'. Released in Nov Oct 2003, again on their own label (CBBCD13), this CD highlights their love of classic 60's sunshine pop, early 70's singer-songwriters, and 80's indie-pop. The eleven tracks run the gamut from the simple acoustic guitar of 'Le Petit Ange', to the funky Fender-Rhodes driven 'Nothing but Dry Land', and the pop-rock of 'Sorry Little Heart'. This release garnered praise and comparisons to Richard and Linda Thompson in their heyday. 2003-2004 saw gigs in and around the bay area to support the release.
 
Their third long player 'The AM Sounds Of Evergreen Dazed' was released in 2005. Featuring 12 tracks and running to 55 minutes, this release is a mellower and more experimental affair than the other two albums. Starting out with 'September' and it's slide guitar and ancient drum machine, the band push themselves into new territory before finding their way back on the final track, 'The Last Dream', a psychedelic smorgasbord of backward guitars, distant feedback, and organ.

They are currently working on an all acoustic album which pays homage to the groups love of sixties light pop and vocal groups such as, The Singers Unlimited, The Free Design, and The Millennium (they were honored to share the stage with the late Lee Mallory from that group in early 2004).

They have been playing live as a duo since 1992, and have performed in the Bay Area at such venues as the Hotel Utah, Bottom Of The Hill, and the Starry Plough, as well as most recently performing at the famous Bitter End in New York at the end of 2010.

The band always record at home in their own Evergreen Studios, using analog 4 and 8 track tape machines. This brings a homegrown flavor to their music sadly lacking in much of today's sterile product.

As well as performing in Evergreen Dazed, Elizabeth (now based back in NYC) works with other NYC artists, and Mark performs experimental rock and electronica as NashSpaceRocket.
